Lord Shiva
The Auspicious One'. Lord Shiva is also known as Mahadeva and is one of the principal deities of Hinduism. He is the Supreme Being in Shaivaism, one of the major sects in Hinduism.
The iconographical attributes of Shiva are the serpent around his neck, the adorning crescent moon, the holy river Ganga flowing from his matted hair, the third eye on his forehead, the trident as his weapon, and the damaru drum.
Lord Shiva is revered widely by Hindus and is worshipped as 'Lingam' in the shrine.
Maha Sivarathri is celebrated annually in honour of God Shiva when he performs his heavenly dance.
